Youth Outreach & Family Support

Youth Outreach & Family Support programs are available to youth in the Cranbrook and Kimberley areas. Outreach services include prevention; education; crisis intervention for youth and their families; lay and life skills counselling; and referrals to other appropriate agencies.
Program objectives are individualized, practical and client centered and can be categorized in the following:
- securing safe housing
- getting into and attending school
- learning job readiness skills
- finding a job
- budgeting
- home-making skills
- self-care
- developing and maintaining healthy relationships

Program Focus
The focus of this program is to assist youth to develop to maximum potential through role-modeling and teaching of:

- budgeting, nutrition, self-care
- assistance in interacting with education system, youth justice system, medical systems, etc
- facilitating a successful transition from foster care to independence
- developing and monitoring goals and plans
- facilitating youth to develop community, natural, and informal support systems
- addressing and assisting youth in dealing with problematic behaviours and modeling appropriate behaviours
- upporting parents, caregivers, and foster parents in meeting the needs of the youth in their care by assisting in conflict resolution

Youth Outreach and Family Support services provide informal support services to youth and teens. Our objective is to provide assistance during crisis situations, while forming positive relationships with youth at risk.
