Volunteer Events and Programs

Annual Christmas Dinner
The Christmas Dinner is held every year and is a beacon of light to the less fortunate in the community.  Its success is due to the generous donations of people and businesses in the community.  Each year, a crowd of up to 500 people attend this event.

National Volunteer Week
In April, an entire week is dedicated to honour the people who donate their time and energy to raise the awareness of the vital contribution volunteers make to our communities and to the identity and values of our country. Each year, nominations of volunteers of that go above and beyond in their community are submitted to Volunteer Cranbrook for the Volunteer of the Year award. The recipient of the award is revealed and celebrated at the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. Watch for new and exciting award categories for next year.

Senior Friendly Visitors
This progam provides in-home volunteer services for at-risk seniors in the Cranbrook area.  Referrals are received from agencies such as the Cranbrook Community Response Network (CCRN), social services/mental health agencies, and family members.

Volunteer Assisted Shopping
The Volunteer Assisted Shopping Program (VASP) is a seniors program run by Volunteer Cranbrook that provides service to persons who may need assistance with shopping. The program also provides a social outing after shopping is completed with program participants and volunteers.

Income Tax Preparation
Volunteer Cranbrook offers income tax preparation to qualified individuals for a nominal processing fee. Please note: the program is time limited and income tax preparation will not processed after the advertised end date.

Employment Programs
A variety of employment programs are available through the VERC.  These programs are run in partnership with various agencies, including HRDC, Terasen Gas, THEO BC, MHR and the Interior Health Authority.
