Services provided through
the Volunteer Resource Centre include the recruitment, screening,
and placing of volunteers with non-profit agencies throughout the
community. Additional services include value-added projects such as
income tax and related form preparation services for marginalized
individuals, and a shopping program that makes available to at-risk
seniors, the services of trained volunteers for weekly grocery shopping
excursions.
Why Volunteer?
Why not?
Everyday we see people who are doing things they believe in: things
they love, thing they feel are necessary, things the feel are important
to their community.
Volunteering is:
About commitment
and caring. It's about helping others, advocating for a cause
you believe in or tackling an urgent social problem. Every year
our community benefits from the thousands of hours put in by volunteers!
You can be part of that group by volunteering for one or all of the
above named reasons.
Not Enough Time?
How many
hours are spent staring at the TV or indulging in other stultifying
activities? Volunteering can take as little or as much time
as you want to give. Volunteering is extremely flexible and
adaptable to anyone's needs. Opportunties exist with short-term
and long-term commitments.
