The CWWA program includes both individual and group for children and youth from ages 3-18 in both the Cranbrook and Kimberley areas who have witnessed or experienced violence, abuse and/or separation in the families.
Individual support includes, but not limited to, the youth worker providing one on one support to the children to help them feel safe and identify feelings, develop and establish rapport, help with group preparation and provide resources and information to the parents on an as needed basis.
Group support takes place every week for 8 weeks and usually runs for 1.5 hours. The children participate in games; crafts and facilitator lead activities that focus on the many challenges of family separation.
Violence is Preventable (V.I.P. Program):
In partnership with School District No 5 and selected elementary schools in Cranbrook, the V.I.P. program is an extension of the CWWA program.
Support is provided to children who have been identified by school personnel that may have difficulties understanding parental separation and its effect on them and their families.
CWWA program staff and an appointed school person facilitate the groups during regular school hours for 8 consecutive weeks.![]() |
